Built in 1925 with petite cottage charm, is situated in the campus of the Summer Palace, and built for the Regent Sethu laksmi Bayi of Travancore Royal family. The cottage once used by the staff attending the queens is now painstakingly well kept by its present owners.
Tucked in a corner of the Glenrock Estate, one among the many tea estates opened by J.D. Munro in 1870, the building is surrounded by lush green tea plantations.
Here nothing comes before you other than freshness of nature as you walk along the beautiful landscape consisting of rare plants, flowery trees, brooks and streams. Kuttikanam in Peerumed is an idyllic little town in the country side at an altitude of three thousand feet above mean sea level. Misty Mount is on the K. K. Road (NH 220) at Kuttikanam, the opening to the hills of Peermede known for its tea plantations first established by the British settlers. During the early ages the Mooplah traders used Peerumed as a staging post on ‘the track over the hills.’ Peerumed as it is called derives its name from a Sufi hermit whose remains are buried on the hill top overlooking Peruvanthanam. Why or when Peeru Muhammed came to the place is not known, but his advent may have some connections with Mooplah traders.
